There has been sad news from the world of Portuguese football on Wednesday with former FC Porto president Pinto da Costa diagnosed with prostate cancer.
TV Guia who broke the news described the 86-year-old’s condition as ‘worrying’ saying the disease has progressed rapidly in the past few months.
Da Costa served as Porto president for a mammoth 42 years, taking over in 1982.
He was replaced as the Liga Portugal giant’s leader in April this year, with former head coach Andre-Villas Boas voted in by club members.
