Neymar is back addressing media speculation head on.
Brazil’s all-time top scorer is now with club side Santos after a disappointing final World Cup.
There were rumblings he may quit football altogether rather than returning to Santos, but he’s still been back as their facilities preparing for the remainder of the season.
Yet not everyone is happy, with Neymar heading to Sao Paulo to take part in a two-day poker event, a side hustle he’s been keen on since his early PSG days.
Responding to online complaints, he posted a series of Santos training shots and then a clip directed at those questioning his commitment.
Neymar responds to poker criticism
“I was here preparing for the second training session and I remembered that, on my day off, a lot of people were saying I was playing poker,” he said.
“I worked in the morning, I didn’t go to the match, I came back to training. It was my day off. Anyway, they keep talking.
“I’m getting ready to train. Can I train or are you going to keep criticising me too? Mind your own business.”
Despite fan complaints, Neymar is expected to be back in action as early as the weekend.
His coach said: “He’s working hard and has been working well.
“Gabigol is fine, Arão too. Schmidt, Igor… We’ve gained options, and I think it was a very wise decision [to rest them].”
