Sevilla have parted ways with José Luis Mendilibar after a 2-2 draw away to Rayo Vallecano.
The experienced Spaniard leaves this term with a record of two wins, two draws and two defeats in LaLiga.
A Europa League winner last season, Mendilibar was brought in mid-season, but failed to keep the side going in his first full campaign.
A club statement read: “Sevilla FC decided this Sunday, after a meeting of its Management Committee, to dismiss José Luis Mendilibar as the club’s coach following the results accumulated at the start of the season.
“The club wants to thank the services provided by the Basque coach, whose role will be marked in the history of the entity by winning the seventh Europa League.
“José Luis Mendilibar has coached Sevilla in 28 official matches. This 2023/24 season has recorded a balance of two wins, five draws and four losses. In the 2022/23 season, since he took charge of the team, he accumulated eight wins, six draws and three losses between LaLiga and the Europa League.
“Sevilla FC wishes José Luis Mendilibar the best of luck in the future.”
