Mauricio Pochettino has made sure Barcelona will never hire him, and he’s certainly happy about it.
The USA national team coach started his career out in the Spanish city, but with local rivals Espanyol, who no one in his current home have ever heard of.
Yet he’s shown some undying love for the LaLiga outfit in an interview which will result in an equal amount of hate from Barca.
Speaking on El Chiringuito, he started off with the ultimate dig, saying: “I think Espanyol are a much more independent club and much more Catalan than Barcelona.
“They say Barca are more than a club. What does that mean? That children should be indoctrinated with certain ideas? I believe Barcelona are wrong in this.
“Every football team has its own culture, and Barca are great club, but I don’t share what they want to sell to me or to people.”
Having questioned what is at the heart of the Spanish giants – their Catalan roots – Pochettino went on to explain why he’s not bothered in the slightest.
“I said he phrase ‘I’ll go to my farm in Argentina to work before coaching Barcelona’ That’s still good, right?
“I fully identify with Espanyol. People always say: ‘If Barca offer you the job, we’ll see.’ I can tell you that I will not coach Barcelona.”
