Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguero saw his return to football with Independiente’s senior team end in disaster.
The Atletico Madrid and Manchester City legend retired in 2021 while playing for Barcelona when he suffered a ventricular arrhythmia.
He’s since been cleared by doctors to return to intense exercise, but previously limited himself to Kings League small tournaments.
Now back in action for his first-ever club, Independiente, an over 35s match against River Plate saw him carried off in excruciating pain by his teammates.
While not life-threatening like his Barca ailment, Aguero has revealed he ruptured his Achilles tendon.
Such an injury likely ends his chances of playing even as a hobby at 37-years-old.
“I had an MRI and it confirmed that I ruptured my tendon. Tomorrow I’ll start the tests and I’ll have to have surgery,” he sadly told his social media followers.
