Galatasaray’s Leroy Sane has been forced to speak out on an altercation that took place at Oktoberfest.
The Germany international was back in Bavaria where he used to play with Bayern Munich but witnesses told BILD a fight broke out between himself and another customer in a wine tent.
Multiple witnesses also claimed he was taunted by an individual calling his new team ‘s***y Gala’ and Sane has now backed up those claims.
“I was provoked and insulted for a long time in the marquee – my club, Galatasaray, was also targeted,” he told BILD.
“In this heated atmosphere, I was pushed, and a brief altercation broke out. I should obviously have remained calmer and taken a step back.”
An event spokesperson also commented, saying: “On Sunday evening, there was a small security incident in the gallery, but the security forces managed and resolved it peacefully. We did not need the police.”
