Real Madrid are laughing to the bank about their free transfer of Kylian Mbappe, but not everyone is feeling great about it.
Los Blancos sealed a deal for the France captain without having to pay a penny to PSG as his contract has expired.
The deal made Madrid look like geniuses and PSG fools, but in the end everyone loses, according to Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl.
The executive is particularly worried about the number of players running down their contracts for free transfers, and commented: “You can always become more of a greedy person, but all of those who are greedy people will slowly become the nail in football’s coffin.
“If all the money goes out, at some point there will be nothing left for us to do business with.
“The money leaves the market, no club benefits from it. Players, families, advisors – everyone benefits, but no club.
“In the past at least clubs profited, the money stayed in the cycle. That will become less and less.”
Eberl thinks this could lead to another attack from the Saudi Pro League, commenting: “It’s too big and at some point you get the feeling that it will burst.
“So at some point it will be oversaturated and at some point Saudi Arabia will come along.
“It doesn’t feel good, but that’s the market right now.”
