Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann has been forced to comment on Karim Adeyemi’s order for possessing illegal firearms.
According to Bild, brass knuckles and a taser were found in the Borussia Dortmund forward’s possession. Both items are prohibited under German weapons law.
The national team striker was sentenced by the Wetter (Ruhr) District Court to 60 daily fines of €7,500 each, totalling €450,000.
They add that the penalty order only became legally binding at the end of October, but the matter has only just come to light publicaly.
Adeyemi has just made his way back to the national team, which makes things awkward for Nagelsmann, who didn’t quite know what to say.
“I have spoken with Adeyemi and that it went well,” he said.
“This is a topic that takes up space and time, and I honestly don'[t have either as a coach before such a game.
“The issue is a bit too big before such an important match, for all of us and for German football. Therefore, I won’t comment on any further inquiries – regardless of their direction.”
