John Textor has been dismissed with immediate effect from his position as director of Eagle Football Holding.
RMC and AFP report the news, which comes the same day as Lyon, the club he was formerly president of, holds it’s general assembly.
RMC go further and claim that the cull was conducted after he attempted to regain control of OL by ousting his replacement as president, Michele Kang.
The allege he requested the removal of two independent directors Stephen Welsh and Hemen Tseayo, following their vote at the general meeting.
This attempt apparently failed when shareholders Ares deemed the decision invalid, leading to board of directors removing him from Eagle Football.
Textor had a turbulent 2025, having to sell his majority shares at Crystal Palace as his role at Lyon blocked them from competing in the Europa League.
He then had to step down at OL after they were administratively relegated by Ligue 1’s financial watchdog rejecting his proposals.
And what about Botafogo?
L’Equipe add that while losing his role at Eagle doesn’t immediately disqualify him from his Botafogo presidency, his days with the club ‘now seem numbered‘.
The Brazilian side are currently under a transfer ban, which Textor promised to get them out of with a cash injection this week.
