With the president of the Italian Football Federation to resign, Gennaro Gattuso will undoubtedly be next.
Gattuso was tied to the unsuccessful president who has overseen two of Italy’s three-straight failures to reach the World Cup.
Leading Italian sports newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport have had quick insider sweep of who will replace Gattuso, and have a list of only three names.
Most realistic are Roberto Mancini and Antonio Conte, with the former winning a Euros with the country and the latter reaching a final.
However, they add there is one other incredible option – Pep Guardiola.
They say with certainty that he’ll leave Manchester City this summer, mirroring reports in England that City were expecting a commitment by now and are already planning for alternatives.
Guardiola has long talked up his plans to coach an international side and England reportedly made enquiries before signing Thomas Tuchel.
Spain are unlikely to be an option given he is Catalan, while Guardiola played in Italy with Brescia where he recently made a visit.
