Feyenoord’s 4-1 win over Heracles faced the strangest of delays due to a problem with the goal.
During the warm up for the Eredivisie clash Feyenoord’s observant goalkeeper Timon Wellenreuther noticed he could touch his crossbar more easily than normal.
The German flagged the issue to ground staff, who brought out a tape measure and confirmed his suspicions.
Goals are meant to be 2.44metres high but in this case the Heracles net was five centromeres too low.
Allard Lindhout told the broadcasters: “The goal was five centimetres lower.
“Wellenreuther was warming up and he indicated that the bar was not the right height on one side. The technicians are working on it.”
The goal then had to be literally raised out of the ground by staff before the match could finally begin a few minutes late.
