Coming off one of the biggest results of his career, Feyenoord manager Brian Priske still wouldn’t be surprised if he was sacked.
The Dane oversaw a mammoth 3-0 Champions League win over Bayern Munich to put his side on the brink of qualification for the knockout rounds.
Yet with Feyenoord fourth in the Eredivisie, 10 points off leaders PSV, Priske might not be around to finish the job against Lille next time out.
Asked about the potential of being sacked, he said: “I respect every decision, even dismissal.
“If someone decides about me, then that’s how it is. It’s part of football. But I know that I did everything I could.”
The 47-year-old was then asked about reports he could be fired as early as Thursday and he said: “I have no idea about that.
“The correct answer from me is: I am the coach of Feyenoord and I have not heard anything else.”
Then shutting down the talk, he finished: “I understand the questions, but I hope for some respect for the club.
“This is an incredible result. And that goes for all of Dutch football. We have two Dutch teams in the next round after PSV’s great victory.
“It is now a bit more respectful to talk about football and not about my position. All those messages, I don’t really give a damn.”
