Claudio Ranieri had made sure there will be no repair job at AS Roma.
The Serie A side’s director has been in the headlines since he and head coach Gian Piero Gasperini went at each other in the media.
Gasperini first claimed about squad composition and reliance on youth players before Ranieri dialled things up by calling Gasperini his fourth-choice coach.
The pair appeared at Roma training on Monday but reportedly completely avoided each other, and Ranieri is yet to return to the complex.
Now leading Rome outlet Corriere dello Sport claim that Ranieri has threatened to resign.
They say it’s to send a ‘it’s me or the coach’ message to the Freidkin owners who have so far stayed silent.
Ranieri vs Gasperini
Gasperini started the rift by commenting: “We need fewer signings, but like Wesley and Malen, with young players on the pitch we risk lowering the team’s ambition.”
In his reply, Ranieri said: “We appointed 5-6 coaches in the summer, three of them didn’t come, and in the end the club decided.”
