Chelsea have signed a lot of Brazilians in recent years, but Estevão Willian, nicknamed ‘Messinho’, or Little Messi in English, might be the real deal.
In a 5-3 win for Palmerias over Juventude in the Brazilian Série A, the 17-year-old scored and assisted to set a new record for a players under the age of 18.
Estevão Willian has now scored 10 goals and provided eight assists in 24 games, surpassing Neymar’s previous record.
The former Barcelona and PSG megastar recorded 10 goals and six assists at the same age, but did so in 33 games, seven games more.
Estevão Willian will almost certainly add to that tally with eight games to go, and could leave Palmerias with a title as they’re currently a point behind league leaders Botafogo.
No player has more goals and assists than the youngster this season, who’s ahead of big names like Hulk and Lucas Moura in the charts.
Next season he’ll be in Chelsea blue, having signed for the Premier League side for €34million plus €23m in bonuses.
The Blues won the race for Messinho ahead of teams like Barcelona and Manchester City, and they could well put him straight into their first team for the 2025/26 season.
