LaLiga and refereeing bias – it’s getting a bit boring now.
However, this time Carlo Ancelotti has once again been forced to comment, turning his sights on city rival Diego Simeone.
Atletico Madrid‘s Simeone made headlines on Friday when he was asked about a number of decisions that went Real Madrid‘s way in their 5-2 Copa del Rey win over Celta Vigo.
“They told me about these episodes that occurred during the match, but they have been around for a hundred years, so I don’t know why it surprises them,” said the Argentine.
With the Negreira case still ongoing around Barcelona making alleged payments to officials, refereeing is a hot topic is Spain so it’s no surprise that this story dominated the news.
But Ancelotti did his best to shut things down, and accused Simeone of putting on a show.
“These are things that are said for the gallery,” the Italian responded. “The whole world of football is aware of what Real Madrid represents in its 125 years of history. They may be thorns that hurt.”
Atleti currently sit top of LaLiga, one point ahead of Real.
