As ever, Carlo Ancelotti kept it classy after announcing his Real Madrid departure.
The Italian legend will leave Los Blancos on May 25th as their most successful coach of all-time with 15 titles across two stints.
He will join the Brazilian national team with the sole aim of winning the 2026 World Cup, despite regularly saying he had no intention to leave Madrid.
Yet with results dropping off this season and Xabi Alonso available, he’s had to go, and has no hard feelings at all.
“In football, as in life, there is a beginning and an end,” he said in his first press conference since announcing the departure.
“The day I arrived at Real Madrid, I always had in mind that it was going to be like this. On May 26, I will begin a new challenge.
“I have no problem with Real Madrid, and I never will. It’s a club that I carry in my heart and that will remain there.
“This adventure will end. We have won many titles and we have wonderful memories that will last a lifetime.
“If I had been told that I would win eleven titles in four years, I would have signed with my blood.”
Asked about his replacement Alonso, he added: “I have no advice to give him, he has all the qualities to be Real Madrid’s coach in the future.”
