Ajax have pulled off a major coup by landing Julian Brandt on a three-year deal.
The 48-time Germany international moves to the Eredivisie after the expiration of his Borussia Dortmund contract.
Brandt’s free agency became public knowledge months ago but Ajax weren’t expected to win the race due to his salary demands.
However, the length of the deal for the 30-year-old appears to have helped them beat Leeds to the punch.
On top of his solid number of Germany caps, Brandt has 82 Champions League appearances with BVB and Bayer Leverkusen, reaching the final in 2024.

“Julian has chosen Ajax and we are extremely happy about that,” said Technical Director Jordi Cruyff.
“We have been in talks for months and he could have signed with other clubs as well.
“With him, we are bringing in a top international player with a lot of experience and a fantastic mentality. I am sure he will give our team a quality boost.”
Cruyff has so far had what looks like a top summer back at the club of his legendary father.
He’s already landed highly-rated City Group coach Michel from Girona, and Marc Andre ter Stegen will also arrive.
However, it’s not all good news.
Top academy graduate Mika Godts is in negotiations with PSG, according to AD.
The Belgian is seen as a far more affordable option after Real Madrid gazumped Paris for Yan Diomande.
Godts was a shock World Cup snub but was expected to lead Ajax next season.
However, he’s since been spotted with PSG director Luis Campos in Porto ahead of a likely deal.
