Nico Schlotterbeck has said reports of a imminent contract extension at Borussia Dortmund are wide of the mark.
Sport BILD earlier claimed a breakthrough in negotiations with the key defender extending his deal from 2027 to 2030.
They added there would be a salary increase to €14million per-year, and an affordable buyout clause of €60million.
Other German outlets gave less detail but suggested a deal was near, but Schlotterbeck has now poured cold water on those claims.
Speaking after Germany’s win over Ghana, he said to reporters in the mixed zone: “It’s good that you asked that, because I read that from you guys today.
“To be perfectly honest, I have to clearly deny that. We’re unfortunately not there yet.”
The centre back went on to explain that the departure of sporting director Sebastian Kehl has quickly changed the picture.
“I negotiated with Sebastian for a long time. Sebastian is no longer here,” he continued.
“Now Ole [Book] will be my contact person, along with Lars. That’s why I was looking forward to the question. But what you said isn’t true at all.
“Of course, Ole has already called me, so I’m very surprised by the reporting.
“I had to bring it up again because I haven’t brought it up that often, but we’re not at the point where the signing is imminent.”
‘Schlotti’ finished: “The situation has changed somewhat.
“It’s bad for BVB fans too, but as I said, it’s not an easy situation for me because Sebastian left at the last minute.”
