Laughter has subsided over Sven Ulreich’s viral dressing down of Simon Rolfes, and the back-up goalkeeper has now received a suspension.
The Bayern Munich no.2, who was videoed shouting “Sit down Rolfes you w***er” during his side’s 1-1 draw with Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.
Standing up off the bench, Ulreich directed his ire at Leverkusen sporting director Rolfes, as those in such a position regularly take a seat on the bench in German football.
Fans cheered him taking on a rival, and he soon became a social media star elsewhere for the rather amusing clip.
However, he may not do it again after the German Football Association [DFB] handed out a one-game ban and €20,000 fine.
The ban won’t mean much to Ulreich, given that he’s solidly Bayern’s no.2, but their first choice, Manuel Neuer, hasn’t been the most reliable in recent seasons, and Ulreich has even made two appearances this term.
