Bayern Munich are set to battle Liverpool again in the transfer market.
This time the European giants will go head to head for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi.
Bayern have been linked to the defender who is available to agree a contract with a non-English side in January ahead of his contract expiring in June.
Bayern sporting director Max Eberl was asked about the rumours and commented: “It is quite clear that we as FC Bayern Munich are exploring the market.”
He did add a caveat though, discussing his own free agent Dayot Upamecano.
“The ultimate goal is to extend Upa’s contract. If that doesn’t work out, then we have to prepare to some extent. It would be foolish not to. We’re in the market.”
The news reveals another transfer battle between Bayern and Liverpool, who were close to signing Guehi in the summer window, with the defender even putting together a Palace farewell video.
That window also saw them do battle for Florian Wirtz, with Bayern left fuming after an almighty pursuit.
Bayern eventually got some revenge by taking Luis Diaz, but tension between the sides remains from 2022 when they agreed a deal with Sadio Mane just before the Reds played in the Champions League final, which infuriated Jurgen Klopp.
