With Bayern Munich on a two-game Bundesliga winless run, Felix Magath thinks Harry Kane has to take some blame.
Bayern recorded their first league loss of the season against Augsburg (2-1) and then drew 2-2 with Hamburg to allow Borussia Dortmund to cut the gap at the top to six points.
Kane is on a ridiculous 36 goals in 32 games this season, but Magath thinks his new withdrawn role is part of the issue.
“I would always use players according to their strengths, Harry Kane can score goals,” he told RTL.
“Everyone praises him and cheers that he also tracks back. But that’s not his job.
“Kane should be running forward more instead of in midfield and focus on his strengths.
“He can clear as many balls at the back as he wants, but he helps the team more when he’s up front, waiting, getting the ball and putting it in.”
He added on the team in general: “The great flow in the Bayern team is currently gone.
“FC Bayern impressed in the first half of the season because they were so dominant. They had everything under control and you never had the feeling that anything could go wrong.
“Since the winter break, that dominance has disappeared. You could see that against HSV.
“It’s never good for a team when they are unchallenged at the top and – in quotes – have no opponents left. That’s when you become complacent.”
