Emi Martinez has gone viral yet again, this time for shoving away a camera after a 2-1 defeat to Colombia.
A 12-game win streak for the World Cup and Copa America champions was ended on Tuesday night, and Martinez responded badly.
The Aston Villa goalkeeper turned to a cameraman who’d come on-pitch and shoved his camera away, which saw him instantly go viral.
The cameraman in question has since responded, and didn’t take the gesture lightly.
Speaking on Noticias RCN, he said: “When the final whistle blows, as a cameraman and steady-coach, I always go looking for reactions because the director starts telling me over the intercom.
“I simply walk onto the pitch, after 90 minutes everyone is tired, and I look for reactions.
“Out of nowhere he slaps me. It made me angry, it made me very angry. I’m working, just like he’s doing, saving shots.
“I wasn’t even playing football with him, it made me very angry but I didn’t say anything to him at the time.”
Colombia’s Sports Journalists Association has also put out a statement, saying: “Acord Colombia strongly rejects the act of aggression by the Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Dibu Martínez towards a cameraman at the end of the match.
“Striking a hand to throw the cameraman’s equipment onto the pitch is an attack on freedom of expression that our association does not tolerate.
“Acord, as the country’s sports journalism authority, demands that FIFA impose an exemplary sanction against Mr. Emiliano Dibu Martínez, who is not an example for the next generation.”
