While Antoine Griezmann seems ageless at Atletico Madrid, Diego Simeone has candidly admitted that’s not the case.
The French World Cup winner has long been linked with a departure to MLS, but never seriously.
So when stories about a move to Orlando City before the end of their transfer window on March 26th emerged, most assumed it was more of the same.
However, Simeone has admitted that Atleti‘s all-time top scorer could seriously be on his way.
“Hopefully he chooses what he considers best and what he wants, because he deserves what he wants,” Simeone said after a beating Club Brugge to progress to the Champions League round of 16.
Those words were also echoed by sporting director Mateu Alemany, suggesting a mid-season departure is very much on the cards.
“He’s in a place where he deserves to choose what he wants to do,” Alemany commented.
