As a sign of how bad things are at AC Milan, Paulo Fonseca and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are planning a clear out of the club’s captains.
Milan maintained their good Champions League form with a 2-1 win over Red Star midweek, but Fonseca savaged his players in the media post-match.
In Serie A the Italian giants are seventh in the table, and completely out of a title race that could be anyone’s.
Former Roma coach Fonseca is ready to make some drastic changes, and Gazzetta Italia claim he has Ibrahimovic’s full support.
Those drastic changes could be the release of three of the club’s captains, Davide Calabria, Theo Hernandez and Fikayo Tomori.
Youth team graduate and club captain Calabria will not have his contract renewed in the summer, while Hernandez, who regularly takes over the armband, will be made available in January.
Fonseca has grown tired of his attitude, and a video of him committing an alleged assault means that he could be available for well under the previously expected €50million price tag.
Meanwhile, Tomori, who is also in the club’s leadership and often takes the armband, could be sold to raise funds as he’s no longer first choice.
Fonseca has made it clear his starting centre backs are Malick Thiaw and Matteo Gabbia, making Tomori a prime candidate to leave.
