Galatasaray may be on the brink of knocking Juventus out of the Champions League, but Victor Osimhen still seems to prefer Italy.
The Nigerian made his name in Serie A with Napoli and recently admitted he was keen to join Juve but the club president blocked the move.
Back in Turin with a 5-2 lead from Turkey, Osimhen was again discussing how he’d love to join the Old Lady, comments which might not go down with with Gala fans.
Speaking before the match he said: “Juventus is one of the most important clubs in the world, rich in history and with so many legends who have played for them.
“When the opportunity arose, before joining Galatasaray, I was eager to come, but there were a few obstacles and in the end it didn’t happen.
“I don’t know what might happen in the future, but Juve would be a privilege for 90% of players.”
Discussing the match, he added: “We didn’t come here underestimating Juve. It’s going to be a long night; we’ll have to fight to advance.
“If I can’t score, I always try to contribute with assists. The important thing is to help the team, and when I do, I’m happy even if I don’t score.”
Osimhen’s debt to Spalletti
Asked about Luciano Spalletti, whom he won Serie A with at Napoli, Osimhen was equally gracious.
“He is one of the coaches who managed to bring out the best in me,” he said. “I have great respect and I am indebted to him.
“He is very dedicated to his work, in Naples he often slept at the training ground. He brought glory to the city and that is why he is respected.”
