After over a decade of barely clinging on under Peter Lim, Valencia could finally be relegated, and their fans are as unhappy as ever.
The former Spanish giants began 2026 with a humbling 4-1 defeat away to Celta Vigo and will enter the relegation zone should Girona get a win in their game in hand.
Relegation battles have been nothing unusual during Lim’s hugely unpopular ownership tenure, but now with the squad worse than ever, it’s looking more like an expectation than a surprise.
In response, fans waited outside the airport upon the team’s return and while chants to remove the owner and coach Carlos Corberan were expected, physical violence wasn’t.
An apparent attack on the team bus resulted in a smashed window, images of which the club shared online with a statement.
“Valencia CF wishes to express its understanding of the frustration felt by our fans regarding the team’s recent results,” they began on social media.
“However, the Club deeply regrets the incident that occurred upon the team’s arrival at the airport, where one of the windows of the official bus was broken.
“This type of violent act could have caused personal injuries to players or members of the coaching staff.
“Valencia CF firmly condemns any form of violence.”
