Ajax have found their new sporting director, with Jordi Cruyff to take them into 2026.

An official announcement is pending, but leading outlets AD and De Telegraaf say the deal is done with the son of the legendary Johann to start in February in a deal until the middle of 2028.

He will succeed Alex Kroes, who offered his resignation in response to the failed appointment of John Heitinga.

Jordi Cruyff was previously technical director at Maccabi Tel Aviv, Barcelona, and the Indonesian Football Association.

As head coach, he worked at Maccabi Tel Aviv, Chinese club Shenzhen and briefly Ecuador.

The 51-year-old began his football career at Ajax‘s academy, and their stadium now bares the name of his legendary late father.

Responding to the news the head of the Ajax Supporters Association, Fabian Nagtzaam, said: “I’m extremely happy, in capital letters.

“Jordi is internationally known and recognised and can help our club to build further.

“Jordi is financially and mentally independent, and that’s especially what you need as a technical director at Ajax.

“I’m especially grateful that he’s accepted the job and that Ajax is giving him this opportunity.”
