Let it go, Cristiano.
The Al Nassr striker still can’t get over Lionel Messi trouncing him 8-5 in Ballon d’Or crowns.
Cristiano Ronaldo once again criticised football’s biggest individual prize while speaking at the Globe Soccer Awards.
Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr lost the Ballon d’Or to Manchester City‘s Rodri in October, a decision that led Los Blancos to boycott the ceremony.
Addressing the controversy, Ronaldo said: “In my opinion, he deserved to win the Golden Ball, it was unfair and I say it here in front of everybody.
“They gave it to Rodrigo, he deserved it too, but I think they should give it to Vinicius because he won the Champions League and scored in the final.
“The other issues for me are not important, when you deserve it, it should be given to who deserves it.
“But, these galas always do the same thing, that’s why I love Globe Soccer and continue to come because you do honest awards.”
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Ronaldo was named the Globe Soccer Best Player of the Year on six occasions to Messi’s one.
His agent, Jorge Mendes, also won the Best Agent of the Year Award on 11 out of 13 occasions.
Coincidence? You tell us…
