According to reports in Turkey, UEFA have asked for a defence from Fenerbahce over four key signings.
Leading outlet Sabah claims that irregularities were flagged by members of UEFA’s Financial Fair Play Committee when analysing Fener’s accounts.
They add that officials identified problems with the contracts of Kerem Akturkoglu, Jose Mourinho, Diego Carlos, and Milan Skriniar.
The governing body have now requested a detailed explanation from Fenerbahce’s management.
Akturkoglu’s contract has long been under scrutiny with accusations he allegedly signed two, contravening FFP.
The director of Sabah, Murat Özbostan, explained: “There have been numerous rumours about Kerem Aktürkoğlu’s contract for some time now.
“Fenerbahçe has signed two contracts for the national team player. One is a contract covering the minimum wage and submitted to the Turkish Football Federation (TFF).
“The other is a contract signed by former Fenerbahçe manager Hakan Safi, covering his company, worth €8.75 million (including taxes and agent fees) annually.”
