Kylian Mbappe is facing another Real Madrid bombshell thanks to comments from one of his countrymen.
The France captain made unwanted headlines when he didn’t join up with his country for the recent international break and his form for Madrid hasn’t exactly been incredible.
While Mbappe has seven goals and an assist in 11 games, Madrid haven’t quite clicked upfront yet this season, and journalist Romain Molina has explained why.
“They regret having brought him in. I guarantee it,” the New York Times, BBC and CNN reporter said. “People have spoken to me about it away from the microphone.
“It’s not what they expected at all. It was a whim of Florentino Pérez. It was only Pérez who wanted him.
“Pérez has always liked the big players. He also has a childlike relationship with him. The club is disappointed, firstly by his level of performance, which does not meet expectations, and secondly by the atmosphere in the dressing room, which is not necessarily Mbappé’s fault.”
The Frenchman added on Mbappe’s physical state: “I think Real made a big mistake. He had no preparation, he played straight away, unlike Bellingham last season.
“When you see what he is physically like at 25, you can’t explain it to me. I’ve never seen a physical decline like he’s had at 25.”
