Raheem Sterling has shown the road to recovery may be shorter than expected with a neat friendly goal.
Feyenoord and Robin van Persie have come under huge criticism for signing a player they say may not be fit before the end of the season.
Sterling countered that after his first start at the weekend, and appeared to progress as the game went on.
Having previously not played since May 2025 for Arsenal, Sterling again started a friendly match at the 1908 training complex in Rotterdam.
The game was against FC Twente, quality opposition given that they recently beat Feyenoord 2-0 in the Eredivisie and could take their Champions League place.
Sterling started and equalised for 1-1 before coming off at half-time.
Without him on the pitch, Feyenoord conceded two more goals for a 3-1 defeat.
