Having played just two games since 2021, Loris Karius could have been forgiven for looking shaky on his Schalke debut.
However, the ex-Liverpool goalkeeper was anything but as he was named Man of the Match in a 1-0 win over Preussen Munster.
Faltering giants Schalke are still struggling in the second tier of German football, but managed to claim a rare win with Karius making five saves, some of which were worldies.
Speaking post-match, he said with a smirk: “It was OK for a debut.
“My voice is gone. It was an unbelievably great feeling to be playing again. Important three points, let’s move on.”
Manager Kees van Wonderen commented: “Our goalkeeper made the difference. I’m happy for Schalke, for the team, for him.”
