Julian Nagelsmann couldn’t have watched Leroy Sane’s latest match.
The Germany coach has given the Galatasaray forward his World Cup blessing less than 48 hours on from surely the most bonkers performance of his career.
Sane assisted Victor Osimhen’s goal in a 1-0 win over Besiktas on Saturday night that puts Gala on the brink of the Turkish Super Lig title.
However, he shouldn’t have been on the pitch with a red card ankle-breaker challenge earlier in the first-half.
Then, on the hour mark he finally got a red for stamping on another Besiktas players ankle in horrendous scenes.
Naglesmann confirms Sane will be in his squad
Despite all that, Nagelsmann has now come out and backed Sane for the World Cup in the Americas.
“We don’t have many players with his profile who often move into the center from the right wing,” he said.
“If his health holds up, he can be a very important player for us.
“We have a great relationship, and Leroy has played some great games. He’s also doing well at Galatasaray,” Nagelsmann added, clearly not watching his most recent match.
The coach then admitted of the enigmatic winger: “Let’s be honest: we never know 100 percent what he’ll ultimately bring to the pitch.”
