FC Twente opened their Eredivisie season with a 1-0 defeat to PEC Zwolle, and fans would’ve recognised the name on the scoresheet.
Attacking midfielder Thijs Oosting secured Zwolle‘s first three points of the season, and on the opposition touchline was his father Joseph.
Remarkably, though, this isn’t a first, it’s in fact his second goal against his father in just four games.
Reflecting on a goal against his father’s Waalwijk while playing for Willem II, Thijs said: “He kept drinking from his water bottle because he didn’t know how to behave.”
He added on their relationship: “My father is one of my best friends; I share everything with him.
“We enjoy watching cycling or Formula 1 together instead of football. We don’t watch talk shows and such either.
“We try to shut ourselves off from football and all the opinions at home. My father, for example, prefers to watch B&B Vol Liefde or First Dates.”
