Despite a minor respite ahead of a 6-1 Champions League win over Monaco, boos and whistles returned for Real Madrid’s squad on Sunday.
When Real‘s starting line-up was announced ahead of their 2-1 LaLiga win over Rayo Vallecano there was a familiar theme.
The trio accused of orchestrating Xabi Alonso’s sacking, Vinicius Jr, Jude Bellingham and Fede Valverde, all received both barrels.
Uniquely this time, they were joined by Dean Huijsen, the £50million summer signing from Bournemouth.
Targeted to a lesser degree were Eduardo Camavinga and Franco Mastantuono, while new head coach Alvaro Arbeloa also received some whistles.
The reception came after Madrid‘s shock 4-2 defeat to Benfica which saw them slump out of the Champions League top eight and into the play-offs.
This time there was an improvement of sorts against one of LaLiga’s trickier sides.
Kylian Mbappe took over late on to dispatch a clear winning penalty, and even squared up to a pair of Rayo players in stoppage time to show some leadership.
The only downside was an injury for Bellingham which looked serious.
The England megastar went off clutching his hamstring in the 10th minute and appeared in serious pain, even crying.
