When Antonio Rudiger turns up for Germany training this summer he may not have many friends in Munich.
The Real Madrid defender often plays the villain with his aggressive style and it was no different against Bayern Munich.
Bayern won 4-3 at home against Real and 6-4 on aggregate to knock Rudiger’s Madrid out of the quarter-finals.
Madrid entered the dressing room at half-time 3-2 up after a thrilling first-half, but their go-ahead goal caused some outrage.
In the build-up Rudiger floored Josip Stanisic, and didn’t just leave it at that.
Stanisic makes Rudiger allegation
The defender revealed: “He sees me coming and just goes for me.
“One word was used, and it was used twice. Maybe he’s man enough to admit it.
“I don’t want to say anything now because I’m not someone who wants to cause bad blood. But I think something like that is unacceptable.”
He added: “The referees have lost a bit of their sensitivity for the big games.
“Nevertheless, the most important thing was that we won and are in the semi-finals.”
Kompany suspended
The incident not just angered Stanisic, but also Vincent Kompany who was booked for his touchline anger.
It was his third yellow of the tournament, and he therefore misses the first leg of the semi-final against PSG.
Sporting director Max Eberl was informed and said: “Is that right? We came into the dressing room and said, ‘Great, no players are suspended.’
“Now the coach is suspended. Good heavens.”
Kompany, on his part, added: “I don’t think the decision is right either.
“When you look at what’s happening on the pitch, how many people are complaining and saying what.
“I always try to be respectful – and I was here too. It’s normal that I said something. Our player is lying on the ground and he almost gives us a high five!”
Rudiger was also questioned by the German press, but only spoke back in Spanish.
