Allan Saint-Maximin has found himself at a top side in RC Lens after leaving Mexico.
During a hectic weekend the French winger announced he was leaving Club America over racist abuse suffered by his children at school.
Having not played in a major European league since 2023 with Newcastle it seemed likely the 28-year-old would stay off the continent, but he’s instead landed a cushty deal.
Saint-Maximin signed for Lens in the closing hours of the January transfer window on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
Lens are currently two points off Ligue 1 leaders PSG and are flying thanks to another former Newcastle man, Florian Thauvin.
Jean-Louis Leca, Lens’ Sporting Director commented: “I am particularly pleased with Allan’s arrival, whose human qualities and behaviour in the locker room I have already observed.
“Ligue 1 is familiar with the footballer, renowned since a very young age for his speed, dribbling skills, and explosiveness.
“He also demonstrated the full extent of his talent during four seasons in the Premier League, a very physically demanding league.
“Beyond the player, I want to highlight the man. Allan gave us his word and made a great effort to join us, notably to be closer to his family.
“In keeping with his character, this signing was completed quickly, and we can’t wait to see him shine at Bollaert.”
Lens also highlighted the winger’s famous speed in their announcement with an amusing video comparing him to the Road Runner.
