Jose Mourinho will finally face journalists over his response to the Gianluca Prestianni fiasco.
The Benfica coach came in for intense criticism after he suggested Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr incited the crowd before alleging racist abuse from Prestianni on February 17th.
Since then Mourinho has avoided media scrutiny as footballing legends like Vincent Kompany and Thierry Henry have heavily criticised his response.
A number of his former players such as John Obi Mikel and Emmanuel Adebayor have also said they expect him to apologise.
However, Mourinho has so far kept schtum, declining media duties before and after the return leg in Madrid.
Further to that, he also avoided his pre-match press conference before Benfica faces AVS, just speaking to the club’s TV channel saying it had been a difficult time.
Post-match Benfica’s press officer cut off a question about the situation and Mourinho reiterated that it had been difficult for everyone.
Now he’s set to finally address the situation on Sunday at 10am.
Benfica face Gil Vicente on Monday and it’s anticipated that Mourinho will discuss the case after UEFA rejected the club’s appeal against Prestianni’s suspension.
