Barcelona presidential candidate Xavier Vilajoana has already seen his trump card flop.
The Catalan made some bold claims amid his challenge to Joan Laporta, including how he was going to strengthen the side up front.
Vilajoana even said that his team had established contact with the representatives of Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane over a summer transfer.
Unsurprisingly, the quotes were put to Kane who didn’t have a clue.
“I haven’t heard anything about it,” he told Sky Germany.
“My father and brother handle everything, but they haven’t told me anything. As I’ve already said, I’m very happy here at Bayern.
“I’m focused on this season and on my time at Bayern. I take it as a compliment.”
Harry Kane linked to Barcelona
Speaking on February 20th Vilajoana started discussing how he’d improve Barcelona, and mentioned replacing Robert Lewandowski.
Asked who he’d replace the Pole with, he responded: “There is one. In fact, we’ve already made some contact, and I think he’s a player who would be a great fit, pending his contractual situation: it’s Harry Kane.
“Kane is a centre forward who would fit in perfectly with our style of play. He’s a striker who is capable of dropping back to link up with his teammates. He is also capable of playing as a pure No.9, a killer, a finisher.
“He is a player who brings mobility. He also performs well when teams sit deep. He would add a lot of value to Barcelona’s game.”
