Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr were dealt a heavy blow on Friday night with FIFA imposing a transfer ban on the Saudi Pro League side.

FIFA published a list of clubs given bans but without reasoning or durations, simply adding ‘until it is lifted’.

Local Saudi outlet Al Riyadhiya claims that the ban is related to debt owed to Manchester City for the transfer of Aymeric Laporte.

City are reportedly owed a €9million instalment which wasn’t paid by an agreed deadline. Once paid, Al Nassr’s transfer ban should be suspended.

Nassr will be desperately hoping that things are sorted soon, with the club top of the Saudi Pro League with nine wins from nine this season.

Nassr’s last league title came in 2019 before Ronaldo’s arrival, with the footballing legend yet to win a major honour in the middle east.

The addition of serial winner Jorge Jesus as manager appears to have changed things, but the Portuguese is reportedly keen to shift goalkeeper Beto in January to free up another foreign player spot in the squad to boost their title challenge.
