Recently sacked Cameroon coach Marc Brys has laid into the federation’s president Samuel Eto’o in his first comments since the announcement.

Brys failed to qualify Cameroon for the 2026 World Cup, but was about to lead them at the Africa Cup of Nations in two weeks.

Also not going are André Onana, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, and Vincent Aboubakar, with Brys blaming Eto’o’s ego.

“Eto’o has left out important players, leaders, because it’s obviously him who made this list,” he said to Afrik Foot.

“How can you go and compete in such a tournament without a world-class goalkeeper, or without Aboubakar? Because these are players who have character, who stand up to the president.

“It’s unbelievable, but it doesn’t surprise me coming from someone who is narcissistic, who thinks he’s the best.”
