One of the stories of the opening weekend in LaLiga, the fallout from Ilkay Gundogan’s Barcelona snub continues.
The Germany midfielder, who arrived as a treble-winning Manchester City captain last season, hasn’t been registered by Barca, who are struggling to fit in under the league’s salary cap.
Such a problematic situation saw both Gundogan and new signing Dani Olmo fail to be registered for their opening 2-1 win over Valencia.
Cadena SER report that Barca now have a meeting with LaLiga to see exactly where they stand, but ahead of it Gundogan has already agreed to leave.
After conversations with head coach Hansi Flick, the midfielder will now look to depart before August 31 and has instructed his agent to find an alternative.
A German international with Turkish routes, Gundogan said earlier in the summer that he’d like to play in the Turkish Super Lig, but not quite yet.
Given how recent his decision to leave was, Gundogan has not yet indicated an offer that would suit him to the club, although he has prioritised returning to former side Man City.
