There is now a chance that Xavi could continue as Barcelona manager next season, Mundo Deportivo has revealed.
The club legend announced a June 30th departure date back in January, but his previously firm stance on keeping to that promise has now softened, according to the Catalan outlet.
They claim that Xavi will sit down with president Joan Laporta , vice president Rafa Yuste and sporting director Deco to analyze if him staying would be best for all parties.
It has previously been claimed that Xavi is the club’s no.1 preference to lead the team next season.
Since announcing his departure on January 27, Xavi went 15 games unbeaten, rejoined LaLiga‘s title race and put in a series of excellent displays against Napoli and PSG in Europe.
However, in their last two matches that all came crashing down, with a 4-1 defeat to Paris and a Clasico defeat against Real Madrid guaranteeing a trophyless season.
Yet despite the timing seeming curious, Xavi has numerous reasons for positivity.
El Mundo claims the club legend has felt huge support from Laporta, Yuste, Deco and the club’s fanbase in recent months, and he expects the trio to back him in the transfer market.
There’s also the emergence of a number of star youngsters adding to the good feeling in Barcelona, while a stay next season means Xavi will be able to lead the side into a brand-new stadium.
