Borussia Dortmund are on the brink of keeping star asset Nico Schlotterbeck.
BILD claim an extension until 2031 is ‘almost completely negotiated’.
Sport1 also claimed a breakthrough, but BVB have said things are positive, but not imminent.
Strongly linked to Real Madrid, the ball-playing centre-back is one of the most sought after on the market with his current deal expiring next summer.
He will get a pay increase of €14million per-year, making him BVB’s top earner.
Yet if clubs like Madrid still want him, there won’t be much stopping them.
The same reports claim Schlotterbeck’s release clause will be set at just €60million.
Transfermarkt currently value the German international at €55m, and should his performances continue, particularly at the World Cup, there’s little doubt teams will be willing to pay such a fee.
Further suggesting a deal is imminent, BVB advisor Matthias Sammer said: “Dortmund has been shaped by eras – and a new era is dawning.
“The club is currently undergoing some changes, and Schlotterbeck could become a face of that era.
“I say I am absolutely convinced that he will stay at Borussia Dortmund.”
