Neymar took less than 24 hours to react to the probable end of his World Cup career.
The Santos captain was left out of Carlo Ancelotti’s final squad before he names his side for the 2026 tournament in the Americas, virtually ending his chances of making it.
Now aged 34 and with an extensive injury history, it looks like time’s up for Neymar, at least at the World Cup, and he’s now had his say.
Speaking while streaming for his Kings League team, he said: “I’m going to speak because I can’t stay silent.
“Obviously, I’m upset and sad about not being called up, but my focus remains the same: day after day, training session after training session, match after match.
“We will achieve our goal. The dream continues.”
Neymar could of course change Ancelotti’s mind with three months to the competitions, while further injuries after Rodrygo’s could chance things further.
Yet these March friendlies are the last before Ancelotti submits his squad on May 18th.
Brazil will then play a final pair of friendlies before they begin their chase for a record-extending sixth World Cup.
