Carlo Ancelotti isn’t a fan of Neymar, but everyone else is.
The Brazil coach has yet to call-up the Santos striker to his squad, with Neymar’s last international appearance in November 2023.
Ancelotti has named his last squad before his final World Cup selection on May 18th, meaning Neymar’s chance to impress in person is over.
Reacting to the most recent snub, Brazil and PSG captain Marquinhos isn’t giving up hope.
“I sincerely believe it will happen,” he began.
“He really wants to get back in shape. And we, as teammates, Brazilians, and fans, also want him to participate in this World Cup.”
Marquinhos continued: “For us defenders, it’s horrible [to face him]. You close down on the right, he goes left; you close down on the left, he goes right.
“When you think it’s impossible for him to get out, he invents a move, a little dance step, and he manages to escape.
“Every day he created something he had never done before, he impressed us.”
Marquinhos and Neymar go way back
On their long-linked careers, Marquinhos finished on his former PSG teammate: “Our careers have always been intertwined.
“There were the Olympic Games, our debuts with the national team, our club matches as opponents, then as teammates.
“Even today, he’s my best friend. When we reached the Champions League final, he called me to wish me good luck, he told me the moment had come and that we had to win this match.”
