Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s stock continues to rise after his Euro 2024 heroics, and that’s a problem for Napoli and Antonio Conte.
The winger scored in a historic 2-0 win against Portugal on Wednesday night, sending Georgia to the knockout stages of their first-ever major tournament.
The 23-year-old was already hot property after his incredible 2022/23 season saw Napoli win a first Serie A title in 33 years, but there’s even more eyes on him now.
At club level, his new manager Conte has already said he’s adamant Kvaratskhelia is staying. Speaking a day before the Portugal win he told the media he was ‘categorical’ that the winger would be with the club in 2024/25, and it was one of his conditions for staying.
However, the Paris Saint-Germain linked man has since thrown in a spanner in the works while speaking post-match.
“Did the coach say I’m staying? I don’t know yet,” he commented. “I respect him because he’s one of the best coaches in the world but I want to take a little more time to decide.
“I respect Napoli, I love Napoli. But I still don’t know how to give a certain answer about my future.”
Speaking just a day earlier at his official unveiling, Conte said: “Kvara remains, there is no doubt, I was categorical about this.
“The president already told you this. We will get the best out of his characteristics, we must support him. We will do it with him, with Politano and with the other top players we have in the squad.”
