Edin Dzeko was in high demand in January, so much that Paris FC were ready to offer him a massive salary.
The iconic Bosnian was chased by the Red Bull-owned side, and even their Head of Soccer, Jurgen Klopp, couldn’t convince him.
With it clear the 40-year-old was leaving Fiorentina, Dzeko had the offer of Ligue 1 football and France’s capital.
But it was just that, BILD claim he was offered a whopping €1.5million for just five months of football.
However, despite all that, he chose one of Klopp’s oldest foes.
Dzeko instead went to Schalke, less glamourous than Paris, and not in the top tier, but the second in Germany.
And as BILD explain further, he’s accepted €300,000, almost five times less than what was on offer from Red Bull.
That will come as an annoyance to Klopp, who spent years with Schalke as his biggest rivals while at Borussia Dortmund.
And to make matters worse, his back-up option, Ciro Immobile, hasn’t impressed at all since joining, and is yet to score.
Dzeko, on the other hand, has five goals and three assists, and is leading the charge to take one of Europe’s biggest sleeping giants back to the top tier.
