Neymar appears to be on the brink of a Brazil return, only for muscle fatigue to put him in late trouble.
The Selecao’s all-time top scorer hasn’t played for his country since October 2023, and new coach Carlo Ancelotti has regularly suggested a return isn’t likely.
However, Real Madrid’s Rodrygo out of the 2026 World Cup and Neymar playing regularly for Santos, the 34-year-old has been included in Ancelotti’s preliminary list for March friendlies.
Yet the drama doesn’t end there.
Before making their final list, Ancelotti wanted to watch Santos’ match against Mirassol in the Brasileirão to get one last in-person look at Neymar.
Sadly for all involved, Neymar has not been included in Santos’ squad for the match due to ‘muscle fatigue’.
The Brazilian Football Federation have said their coach and assistants will go to the match anyway, but unless there’s a late change, Neymar will be missing a huge chance to boost his World Cup hopes.
