Seen as a softer touch on the Real Madrid dressing room than Xabi Alonso, Alvaro Arbeloa has now put that to the test.
The rookie coach almost saw his LaLiga title challenge ended by Celta Vigo on Friday night but a late Fede Valverde winner saved his blushed at 2-1.
Arbeloa was without 10 key first team players and referenced the fact post-match.
In a stand-out moment, he commented: “I’m very happy with their character, with the players who wanted to push forward, with the players who wanted to come.”
The comment was clearly a message, although to who wasn’t completely clear.
However, it seems like Eduardo Camavinga is the most likely target, given he missed the match with tooth pain, as per Madrid.
It’s also speculated that Franco Mastantuono could have been a target, due to his unnecessary red card in the previous match against Getafe.
Whoever is at fault, the comments are likely to impact the dressing room, an unstable place given the players’ roles in Alonso’s sacking.
